Enrolment is now open for ‘Framing Effective Healthy Messages’ – a one-day Social Psychology and Ageing workshop co-hosted by the UK Ageing Network and Brunel University

July 8, 2024

UKAN and Brunel University are co-hosting a one-day Social Psychology and Ageing workshop focused on Framing Effective Healthy Messages.

There is a strong understanding of the lifestyle and environmental factors throughout life that correlate with good health in older age, including diet and physical activity. The challenge is to ensure this understanding is used effectively in interventions by public health authorities and backed up by national regulations. Further research is needed to understand how best to motivate and facilitate a change to a healthier lifestyle across the life-course. The priority for public health interventions should be those people living in deprivation and suffering the worst health.
House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee (2021) Ageing: Science, Technology and Healthy Living.

This workshop will bring older people. members of the Brunel Older Reference Group (BORG), together with experts in social psychology, marketing, diet, exercise and the epidemiology of healthy ageing to examine best practice, pinpoint barriers to the update of healthy lifestyles by those who need to benefit most, and above all, come to a shared understanding of what’s needed next to benefit older people.

Attendance at the workshop is free of charge through the generosity of BLAST & UKAN funders BBSRC and MRC (as part of the wider UK Ageing Networks).
